The <s>Boring Bit</s> Rules

  1. Teams consist of a selection of 11 players in a 4-4-2 formation comprising:
    • 1 x Goalkeeper
    • 4 x Defenders
    • 4 x Midfielders
    • 2 x Forwards
  2. Each team must contain no more than 2 players from any one of the 16 participating countries.
  3. Squads, player names and positions, etc. are taken from those available on the official UEFA Euro 2008 website [1]. We don't care if you think Ronaldo is a midfielder rather than a forward - if that's the position Michel Platini says he is then that's good enough for us.
  4. Scoring in the game is loosely based on that used by Fantasy League as follows:

    Goalkeepers and Defenders

    Clean Sheet (60mins+)
    3 points
    Appearance (45mins+)
    1 point
    Goal conceded
    -1 point per goal

    All players

    Assist
    2 points
    Goal scored
    3 points
    Yellow card
    -1 point
    Red card
    -3 points
  5. Scoring takes place during the normal 90 minutes of play in the group stages and, if applicable, extra time in the knockout stages. Goals scored and conceded during a penalty shoot out do not count.
  6. Scores are based on the post-match statistics listed on the official UEFA Euro 2008 website [1]. Once entered into our site these scores are final - even if contested or changed at a later stage.
  7. League standing is decided on points first, then the number of goals scored, then the number of assists, then least goals conceded, then least red cards, then least yellow cards, then paper, scissors, stone...
  8. Entering a team into the betMooch Euro 2008 fantasy footy game requires registration.
  9. Each registered user may only enter one team into the general league, plus a maximum of one additional team per custom league they sign up to.
  10. Teams entered into custom Leagues are not entered into the general league.
  11. We are not in any way, shape or form affiliated with UEFA, Euro 2008, Austria or Switzerland. We've only ever been to Switzerland once and that was pretty expensive. Nice chocolate mind.
  12. We will not pass your registration details on to anyone. Not even Pele and who could say no to Pele? However, if you consent for us to do so during registration, we will use your registered email address to periodically keep you informed about Bet Mooch and affiliated websites.
  13. No biting, stomping, cheating, bombing, petting or feeding the animals.
  14. The deadline for submitting your team is kick-off of the first game of the knockout stages, namely 20:45 CEDT, Thursday 19th June 2008.
  15. Teams entered after Euro 2008 kicks off are not eligible for any points scored by their chosen players prior to when their team was submitted.
  16. The deadline for creating a League is kick-off of the first game of Euro 2008, namely 18:00 CEDT, Saturday 7th June 2008.
  17. Fixtures listed on the site are in Central European Daylight Time (BST + 1 hour for all you Limeys).
  18. We hope you enjoy our wee game and remember that it is just that, a game. If you take umbrage with a score or similar then please don't pester us. However, if you want to drop us a line or just say hi then please use the contact page.

Footnotes

1
Apparently we are not allowed to link to the Official Euro 2008 website without prior written consent. Three cheers to UEFA for embracing the free and open spirit of the interweb! If you have an itching need to peruse the Euro 2008 website then I am sure google or the like will be more than happy to oblige. Just don't tell Platini we sent you.
